The HAMBUBU Origin
It started with Jhing, a Civil Engineer working on residential and condominium projects, often coordinating with architects and interior designers.
Over the years, he became fascinated by interior design—especially how different spaces are planned, how every element serves a purpose, and how furniture and home products can transform the way a space functions
One day, while helping one of his clients explore and compare products for their home, Jhing was browsing an E-commerse Marketplace app when he stumbled upon a sofa bed.
He was amazed by how cleverly it could transform from a sofa into a bed and back again.
Such a simple idea, yet so creative, practical, and space-saving.
That sparked a thought:
Why not create a place where people could discover products like these—creative, innovative, multifunctional, and genuinely useful?
And that's where the idea for HAMBUBU began.
But the name came from somewhere much closer to home.
While thinking of a name for the website, Jhing happened to see their black cat playing nearby. His name was HAMBUBU—a name given to him by Jhing's five-year-old niece when she first saw him as a tiny black kitten while she was in the hospital.
She thought he was incredibly cute and kept calling him “HAMBUBU.”
It sounded funny and unusual at first. But somehow, the name stuck—and became part of the family.
So Jhing decided to make HAMBUBU the name of the website, and their little black cat became the face and inspiration behind its logo.
Why a Cat?
Cats are naturally curious. They explore their surroundings, adapt to different spaces, and somehow find clever ways to make themselves comfortable—even in the smallest corners.
And that became the spirit behind HAMBUBU: curiosity, adaptability, cleverness, and making the most out of the space you have.
